Toshiba unveils new range of 2-in-1 PCs – the Satellite Radius

Toshiba today announced three new 2-in-1 PC’s – Satellite Radius™ 14 (14 Inch), Satellite Radius™ 15 (15.6 inch) and Satellite Radius™ 15 4K Ultra HD Edition (15.6 inch).

What’s new about these devices is that they are in the convertible line-ups, and Satellite Radius™ 15 range has devices which is touted as the world’s first 4K convertible laptop. The other new feature amongst these devices is the presence of dedicated Cortana key.


Though the devices are built keeping Windows 10 in picture, they come with Windows 8.1 pre-loaded; they will be eligible to be updated to Windows 10 once it becomes available on July 29th.

These convertibles feature a 2-axis hinge allowing the screen to be rotated to the complete 360-degrees.

We believe that by offering new thin and light designs, screen options in resolutions from HD to 4K and a range of new, affordable price points, we’re playing our part in further fueling the growth potential of this category.”

Satellite Radius™ 15 4K Ultra HD Edition comes with a staggering 3840*2160 resolution with pixel density of 282 PPI. It comes with Harman Kardon® stereo speakers and DTS Sound™ plus exclusive Slipstream™ port technology in the speakers that reduces distortion, creates a more precise, rich sound at max volume for listening to your favorite music or watching video while at work or home or on the go. This features will enable consumers to view rich videos on this laptop.


Standard across these laptops are the HD webcams and TruTalk™ dual-array microphones to ease up the usage of voice apps like Cortana and Skype. The Satellite Radius 15 features a brushed-metal enclosure, while the Satellite Radius 14 features an all-new brushed resin black matte cover and a brushed-metal palm rest.


Powering the new laptops are 5th Gen Intel® Core™ processors. The Satellite Radius™ 14 is configurable with a 5th generation Intel Core processor or an AMD Accelerated Processing Unit (APU). ‘

These devices are also available with 802.11ac Wi-Fi® and a range of ports and extensions, including one USB 2.0 port, an SD card slot and two Super Speed USB 3.0 ports and one of which is equipped with USB Sleep & Charge technology3 to enable the charging of additional USB-powered devices even when the PC is powered off.


These Satellite Radius devices will be available for purchase on June 21, 2015 at Best Buy and, starting at $584.99 MSRP for the Satellite Radius 14 and $842.99 MSRP for the Satellite Radius 15.
