Review of Nokia Lumia 610
A big thanks to Nokia India for being generous enough to send a review unit of Nokia Lumia 610. Nokia Lumia 610 is the cheapest in the Nokia Lumia range of devices. The phone is also one of the least expensive Windows Phone available in the market.
With Nokia Lumia 610, Nokia was able to push the minimum hardware requirements for Windows Phones even further by trimming certain hardware components. Is the hardware then good enough for the OS? Apps? Battery Performance? Lets see.
Package and Contents:
Keeping with the new trend, Lumia 610 comes in the minimalistic recyclable blue box. The box contains the Lumia 610, Charger, USB Charging/Data Sync Cable, WH-208 in-ear hands-free, User Guides and Nokia Music Guide.
The looks of the device still looks more than ordinary. The Cyan device has a glossy finish and gives a premium feel for sure. So is the one in white. The Magenta and Black comes with Matte finish at the black. The front of the phone hosts a 3.7 inch TFT Capacitive screen with 800*480 pixel resolution. Below the screen are the 3 standard capative buttons, and primary mic. Above the screen, we have Ambient Light sensor on the right of the Nokia Logo and above the logo is the ear piece.
Top of the device micro USB port, 3.5mm Audio jack, secondary mic. The right of the device contains volume rocker, standby/power button, camera shutter key. Bottom and left of the device is left plain. The back of the device hosts a 5MP Camera with LED Flash, Nokia Logo and Speaker Grill at the bottom. The speakers are pretty loud for me.
Removing the back panel gives access to the battery and the micro SIM Slot,
Internals and Software
The phone comes with 800 MHz processor, 256 MB RAM. Due to Lumia 610’s hardware, we can observe a lag in some of the OS features and it is clearly indicated when the apps are accessed. Lumia 610 came with Windows Phone Tango update which is optimized for the hardware which Lumia 610 has. Some of the features which comes with Lumia 610 would be Internet Sharing, Flip to Silence, Camera Extras, Nokia Music with access to Millions of songs.
Since I don’t have any other Windows devices at the moment, I am unable to compare the speed. Other limitations are the access to apps. Most of the apps in the Marketplace requires 512 MB RAM. Lack of memory makes most of the apps unavailable to Lumia 610. Angry Birds, Skype are some of the apps which are not available at the moment to Lumia 610.
Benefits with Nokia Lumia 610 and other Lumia range of devices would be the access to apps like Nokia Drive, Nokia Maps, Nokia Transport, Camera extras (Smart Group Shots, Action shot, Self-timer, Panorama modes), Nokia City Lens (Augmented reality app) and other apps from Nokia which is exclusive for Lumia Range.
The phone was hardly active beyond 10-12 hours on 3G, moderate phone calls, WiFi etc considering that it comes with Li-Ion 1300 mAh (BP-3L).
Camera performance was descent as you can expect in a low cost phone. Can capture some descent photos and videos but nothing great here.
The Nokia Lumia 610 comes with bundled offer from Airtel and Idea, where users will get 2GB – 3G data every month for a period of 4 months.

In and around a good device with limited budget. The bundled offer adds on to your purchase. In case you don’t want to spend too much on a Windows Phone, this phone is for you.
