PresentationFontCache.exe hogs CPU in Windows

In case your PC has a process named PresentationFontCache.exe and is consuming too much of CPU power, here is how you can fix it.

Navigate to the path <OS Drive>:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\. There you can find a file with the name FontCache<x>.0.0.0.dat. Here x can be 3 or 4. Rename the file to FontCache3.0.0.0.dat.bak or FontCache4.0.0.0.dat.bak. You can also choose to delete the file.

Then, stop the service FontCache.x.0.0.0 and start it again. This should reduce the CPU usage of the PresentationFontCache.exe. The reason might be the huge number of fonts which it tries to load/access.

Alternatively, you can try to repair Microsoft .Net Framework from the Add/Remove Programs application.
