Nokia launches new devices in the Lumia range with better hardware, Windows Phone 8 and more
Nokia announced 2 new devices, the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 820. They became the first from Nokia house to run on Windows Phone 8.
Nokia Lumia 920 is the next generation flagship phone with a boost in the internals compared to Lumia 800 and Lumia 900. The device also comes with PureView imaging technology built into it.
This phone comes with 1.5 GHz Dual Core Snapdragon S4 Processor, 4.5″ Nokia PureMotion HD+ WXGA Clear Black Display with 1280*768 pixel resolution, Super Sensitive Touch, 8.7MP f/2.0, 1/3” Camera with PureView Optical Imaging Stabilization and Carl Zeiss Optics, 1.2 MP front facing camera, 2000mAh battery, 1GB RAM and 32 GB Mass memory.
The PureView technology allows the device to capture blur free images and videos even in Low-Light conditions.
“Nokia PureView continues to deliver cutting-edge technology to make it possible for a smartphone camera to take the kind of images usually only seen on a standalone SLR camera,” said Jo Harlow, executive vice president of Nokia Smart Devices.
The PureMotion HD+ display is touted as the brightest, fastest and most sensitive touch screen allowing users to use it with fingernails and even wearing handgloves.
Nokia Smart Shoot allows users to take multiple photos with single click and users can edit to make the image a perfect one. Nokia Music allows users to stream unlimited music for free.
Lumia 920 also comes with Nokia City Lens – augmented reality app, which with the help of camera overlays information about restaurants, shops, hotels etc. The phone will be available in Yellow, Red, Grey, White and Black colours.
The device comes with 3 distortion free mics for noise cancellation and HD Voice capabilities. Connectivity options include NFC Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 3.1, A-GPS/GLONASS, micro-USB , 3.5 mm audio. The 2000mAh battery allows talk time on GSM/WCDMA (2G) – up to 17 hours, on 3G – up to 10 hours. Also, standby time on GSM/WCDMA is up to 400 hours. Music playback on the device will finish the juice in 67 hours.
Nokia Lumia 820 is a mid-range device with the same 1.5GHz Dual Core S4 Processor, 4.3″ CBD with 800*480 resolution, 8MP Camera, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory and microSD card support. The phone has exchangeable shells to give a different colour code. There is a 1650mAh battery inside and also supports Wireless charging.
Lumia 820 will come in Red, Yellow, Grey, Cyan, Purple, White and Black Colours.
Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 allows wireless charging from a range of accessories. Fatboy Recharge Pillow, JBL Powerup Docking station allows wireless charging. Nokia has also partnered with Virgin Atlantic which will facilitate Wireless charging stations across London Heathrow Clubhouse lounge, US Cafe Chain majors Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf allowing users to charge their devices.
Both the devices will come with LTE and HSPA+ capabilities. Nokia didn’t specify availability dates nor pricing and will be specified when sales are due to begin.
