Mexifornia food festival at California Pizza Kitchen
It so happened that we were invited to California Pizza Kitchen’s Mexican Food Festival. CPK brought together colorful flavours of Mexican food with Californian twist. Thus aptly naming it as Mexifornia!
I remember visiting Mexican restaurants when I was in UK but had visited hardly any in the past 5 years. Thus when the invite came to taste the Mexican food, I couldn’t resist the offer and accepted to visit the food chain.
For me, it was the first time in CPK. Though I had heard about the food chain, couldn’t make it earlier. We were a group of 6 people who were invited to taste the food and provide the feedback on the menu of Mexifornia.
To begin with, we were offered non alcoholic drinks and the one’s tried by me are Summer Splash, Party Punch, Virgin Mojito and Cucumber Cooler. I really liked the Summer Splash and Virgin Mojito. I felt craving for more of Summer Splash and Virgin Mojito.
Then we had starters like Paneer Enchilada and Chicken Enchilada. Being a Vegan, I cannot taste the Chicken Enchilada, but got a good response from my fellow bloggers. Since, it is with Paneer and Cheese, you are assured of heavy starters.
Then came the Pizza. Baja Pizza, which is a spicy thin crust pizza topped with Onions, Mozzarella cheese, black beans, roasted corn and sliced mushrooms. They are well garnished with hand torn cilantro and drizzled with crème fraiche. It was too good for a person not to fall in love with the taste. It was the one of the best Pizza’s I had in a long long time.
This was followed by Tacos with Mexican rice. It had freshly toasted corn tortilla, topped with adobo fried shrimps, chicken or paneer and topped with smokey barbeque and chipotle slaw. It is usually served with mexican rice and grilled limes. The tacos was Ok’ish and had too much of tangyness in rice.
All this ended with the best in the entire menu. The Churros & Chocolate Mousse. This one is a must try dessert in CPK. Its a traditional Mexican fluffed pastry which is served with molè mousse. The Chocolate Mole Mousse just melted in the mouth and was heavenly to rate it and it made me have more and more of it as I had fallen in love with it.
