Hyundai launches the new Elite i20, starts at INR 4.89 lakh
Hyundai has taken the wraps of the new Elite i20 and the new car has been launched in India. The Elite i20 carries forward the fluidic design of the Hyundai cars.
The all new Elite i20 will be available in 10 variants across Petrol and Diesel variants with the base variant starting at Rs 4.89 lakh – ex-showroom Delhi.
Look wise, the Elite i20 grabs quite a bit of changes with overall body design remaining the same. The wraparound headlamps makes its way onto the Elite i20 which is expected to cast a brighter and longer light beam on the road. The Front grille is much bigger and has a hexagonal shape with chrome element on boundary.
The hood now bears a sharper character lines and the same goes onto the body as well. This gives the Elite i20 a sporty look. The B-pillar and C-pillar black finish adds onto the sporty looks. The rear side hosts the large wraparound tail lamp.
The Elite i20 Petrol variant is powered by Kappa 1.2L VTVT Engine which is tuned to offer optimum fuel efficiency and performance. It is capable of generating a maximum power of [email protected],000 rpm and a torque output of 11.7 kgm. It is mated with 5 speed manual gear box.
The Elite i20 Diesel variant is powered by 1.4 L U2 CRDi engine which is capable of generating a maximum power of [email protected],000 rpm, torque output of 22.4 kgm. It is mated with 6 speed manual gear box.
The five variants in each of Petrol and Diesel lines are – Era, Magna, Sportz, Sportz (O) and Asta. Its available in 7 colors – Red Passion, Sleek Silver, Mystic Blue, Star Dust, Polar White, Pristine Blue and Midas Gold. The new model is also expected to be exported to the global markets.
The diesel gives a fuel economy of 22.54 kmpl and petrol 18.60 kmpl in its Era and Magna variants where as Sports and Asta is claimed to give a mileage of 21.7 kmpl in diesel and 18.24 kmpl in petrol (ARAI figures) respectively.
Hyundai has always given a value for money with features in all of its cars. The same holds good with Elite i20 as well. The car is competitively priced and has a direct competition with Suzuki Swift, Fiat Punto Evo and Volkswagen Polo in the segment.
