BMW India launches 3rd Gen X5

BMW India has launched the new X5 Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) at Pune in India today. The new BMW X5 was unveiled by Sachin Tendulkar, in the presence of Philipp Von Sahn, President, BMW India.



The all new BMW X5 xDrive30d Design Pure Experience is powered by a 2993cc (3.0L) Twin-Power turbo, six-cylinder diesel engine, which combines common rail diesel injection (CRDI) and a Turbo Charger with variable turbine geometry. The engine is capable of delivering 190kW / 258HP of peak power and max torque of 560Nm.

It also comes with all-wheel drive system as a standard along with adaptive suspension package which combines Dynamic Damper Control with air cushioning for better driving comfort. It comes with 8-speed steptronic sport automatic transmission. BMX X5 can reach 100km/H in 6.9 secs and has a max speed of 230km/h.

BMW X5 is more safer compared to its predecessor. The safety features present in the all-new BMW X5 includes 6 Air-Bags, Dynamic Stability Control that includes Traction Control, Assistance systems for braking and hill descent, Side-impact protection, Electronic Vehicle Immobiliser and crash sensor.

The BMW X5 diesel variant will be manufactured at the Company’s plan in Chennai and will be available starting from June, 2014.

It is priced at Rs 70.9 Lakh, ex-showroom.
